  • The Glass Lab Experiments

    Experiment 008 - 11:23min, 352 X 240, released 09/18/2004
Filmed on location in Orlando, Florida at the 2004 World Yo-Yo Contest from August 6 - 9. Featuring new tricks by Seth Petersen, Steve Brown, Jason Lee, Kota Watanabe, Shingo Terada, Matt Schmidt, Doc Pop, Whip, Rafael, and more! Honk!

    MPEG(113.0MB) | MPEG Mirror(113.0MB)

    Experiment 007 - 10:41min, 352 X 240, released 09/01/2004
Video of Jack Ringca and Brian Cabildo (glasseye) on tour in Nicaragua. They were sent by Duncan Toys to do a promotion for Coca-Cola from April 29 to May 09, 2004. More of a tour video as opposed to a standard yo-yo clip video, there are yo-yoing elements but they aren't the main focus of this vid. One quick note: in the video the weather appears nice and pleasant... but the conditions were actually really bad for yo-yoing. Kinda like Florida in the summer, Extremely Hot and Extremely Humid! Add high winds and rain from time to time, and you get a good picture of what the weather really is like. Sauna yo-yoing... fun for everyone!
    MPEG(106.0MB)

    Experiment 006 - 6:38min, 352 X 240, released 07/15/2004
Made from footage collected at the 2004 Southwest Regional Contest in West Hollywood, California. Featuring new tricks and combos from Jason Lee, Spencer, Johnnie, and more... plus a battle scene which decided the fate of the players in the City of Angels.
    MPEG(66.1MB)

    Experiment 005 - 2:08min, 352 X 240, released 06/09/2004
Spencer and John Huber ended up at the laboratory sometime last December. I shot video and never did a thing with it until a couple days ago. This video more than anything else was an experiment to help me remember how to edit video, hence the overuse of filters. Hope it's still viewable. Huber shows off some of the grinds he's been working on and Spence goes bucket crazy. BuiYaka!
    MPEG(29.7MB)

    Experiment 004 - 5:29min, 320 X 240, released 04/20/2001
Sometime around the middle of March, Doctor Popular sent me about two hours of raw footage and asked me to put together a video for him. You are about to see the outcome! This video has it all: See Doc in the Disco Redroom. Catch a glimpse of the elevator that leads down to the Underground Lab. Underwater yo-yoing? Underwater Solid Loop Diabolo? You bet. Plus a section to help you learn Doc's latest and greatest tricks.

This project has taken over a month of editing in the glasslab. One of the biggest challenges for me was the music since I pieced everything together for this one... the beats, the scratching, the dialog, the sound effects, etc... Hope you like it.

This is footage I took of the Spin Doctors on December 10, 1999 up in Alameda. I put together this video long before THEGLASSLAB.COM existed which explains why it sucks so bad (the editing that is). But it's a little nostalgic for me since it was the first time I hung out with players of the new school. The music is by a local Orange County band called Senza Motiva. The song is called "After School Special". Interesting fact: the drummer (Gabe McNair) is one of the trumpet/keyboard players for No Doubt.
